Aveline, the protagonist, chatting with her mom. | The game has it's faults, but it is pretty at times.

The game mostly takes place in New Orleans.
You have different "personas" you switch into that enable you to do different things. This was one of the more creative additions to the Assassin's Creed games. In this screenshot, I have changed into "The Lady" persona. All she can use is her hidden blade and a poison-dart modified parasol. She can't even climb. However, guards aren't suspicious of her at all.
Large chunks of the game take place in the bayou. I really didn't like this area because more than half of it is water. In a parkour-oriented game, the last thing you want is water everywhere, which simply slows you to a grinding halt.
A stealth section where you try to infiltrate a camp.
The slave persona was probably my personal preference because you can blend in with everyone very easily but still have a variety of other moves to deal with guards.
A guy floating in the air upon death. | (sigh) So, after many attempts to infiltrate a fort undetected, I finally made it to my target without being seen. But none of my weapons would do anything to him. He glitched his way to this corner and was invincible. I had to start over yet again.
The clipping was spotty as well. | Oh man, these "puzzles" drove me crazy. You are supposed to hold the Vita up to a light source to reveal a clue or drawing. Sounds innovative, but it didn't work! I would hold the Vita camera literally an inch away from a light bulb and . . . nothing. Too bad, because other games have pulled off similar game mechanics just fine.

Assassin's Creed: Liberation
Assassin's Creed: Liberation is the franchise's first foray into the mobile gaming arena. I had high hopes for this game but to be honest it's not very good. I really liked that you play as a black woman because most games don't feature minorities prominently. However, the gameplay itself seemed really forced and clunky, and had some very poor design decisions (such as half the game being in a swamp). Additionally, there are tons and tons of glitches, many of which required completely restarting the mission. It's an ambitious goal to have an Assassin's Creed game on a handheld, but I think ultimately too many corner's were cut. Hopefully Ubisoft get a good team to give it another go and give them enough time to pay attention to details.
