Guns Up!
Guns Up! is a type of tower defense game where you attack and defend bases. On the offense, your truck slowly drives up to the enemy base and any soldiers you recruit come out of the truck. You can't directly control the soldiers you purchase but you can use some special abilities. On the defense, you play a similar way but can create sandbags and other fortifications for your soldiers to rally behind. You can unlock stronger soldiers or ones with specializations. You can play against other players, but not necessarily in real time - the game simulates their performance based on their experience.
Overall I thought the game was just okay. I like the general idea of the game but it was actually quite difficult. I wasn't a fan of how you couldn't control any of the soldiers, and it seemed like you'd need to spend real money to get the perks needed to be successful (a blight on modern gaming). I felt like I hit a brick wall and I simply wasn't good enough to progress any further in the game. I decided I'd rather keep my money than keep progressing.
My guys are advancing from left to write. I can pick up that power-up by pressing square. | Why do so many people leave red explosive barrels sitting around, let alone in highly dangerous places? | Bombing runs are a power-up that can give you a big advantage. |

Closing in on these jerks. | You can give small upgrades to classes of troops. | BOOM! |
The enemy has completely destroyed my defenses and in seconds away from victory. | One annoying thing about the game is that strategy didn't seem to work very well. For example, I set up lots of defenses to funnel enemies into one spot, and then put a sniper tower overlooking that narrow opening. The enemies could easily tear down brick walls and all of my set up was pointless. | |
Oh, this is going to be a total victory . . . |
