Whatever was going on when Alice in Wonderland was written was probably going on when this game was designed.  I don't even know how to describe this game, so sorry if you have no idea of the meaning behind what I'm about to write.

In Super Exploding Zoo you begin with one animal and run past others to grow your army.  Each animal has a special ability and a certain level of exploding power.  "What's exploding power?!" you say?  Well, that's how you defeat the evil aliens that are trying to eat your eggs!  So let's say an enemy has six health; you'd need to explode six penguins against them to take them out.  Penguins are the weakest animals, but you could instead blow up the alien with three beavers.  I swear I'm not making this up.

Oddly, the game is quite engaging and fun!  There's a certain amount of puzzle solving to the game, but quick thinking is required as well.  Each level effectively has a time limit because from the very beginning of each level there are aliens that slowly advance towards your precious eggs.

Each animal's abilities add a fair amount of gameplay options.  For example, lions have four exploding power (so they're pretty strong), but can also be placed on podiums to scare and slow down the aliens in their march.  Will you use the lion for it's exploding strength against one alien or use it to slow down all of them?

There are six different categories of animals, but a few different animals for each category.  What I mean is that even though there are penguins and dodo birds, they both do the exact same thing - only their appearance is different.  Because of this, even though there are only six distinct animal abilities there are lots of different animals in the game.

The game is well thought out and smartly designed, and I thought it was a good bit of fun.  It's definitely a leader in the pack of quirky games!
