The Therapist Gamer

Rocketbirds is a 2D sidescroller with some stealth elements, but it mostly consists of blasting away penguins with machine guns.  You play as a Rambo-like chicken trying to stop the evil penguin empire from world domination.

 

The game has an okay sense of humor but tries a bit too hard at times.  The gameplay is pretty solid but felt a little stiff to me.  There's a wide variety of weapons that feel unique and powerful.  The action seems to come in quick bursts, not unlike Hotline Miami.  This is because once enemies see you they will shoot you dead in an instant.  To counter this, you need to strike hard and fast.  

 

There are a few areas of the game with alternative gameplay mechanics, such as when you have a gigantic rocket strapped to your back and fly around while shooting uzis at your foes.  I thought this break in gameplay worked pretty well because it wasn't overused.

 

My life is largely the same after having played this game, but it was good for a fun romp.
