Loading screen | The protagonist. | The protagonist running from some ghostly enemies. |
---|---|---|
You can talk to people in town and develop relationships with them - for rewards, of course. | ||
Some children who have been reunited with their mother's. | ||
A typical screen. The sign on the right is indicating that, in order to get by, I need to get five blue stones together. I can pick up the stones with by wand and throw them, but this takes up a turn and the black ghost next to me will get me. The blue and red stones actually change colors when they are thrown, so I'd need to plan that carefully to get 5 blue stones together. And, hopefully, I can get the child in the bottom right back to one of the grieving mothers. | ||
I can't remember how, but I got my character to take his/her hood off. | Every time you successfully return all of the children, a year passes. | |
My character is getting married, I think? | If you don't rescue all of the children then the mayor will have something to say - sometimes something surprising. | I don't know who the witch is, but I could never do anything productive in this screen. |
You can select up to 2 items so that they won't show up in your game. |
Road Not Taken
Road not taken is a PS4 game that was free via PS Plus. I don't have many screenshots, in part because I didn't play it for very long. Essentially, it's a puzzle game where you try to reunite lost children with their mothers. It reminds me of "Sokoban," a part of the old PC game Nethack. You move one space at a time, and when you move everything else moves as well. Many screens are blocked by a wall, and you can lower the wall by placing the indicated objects close to one another.
Some of the puzzles can get quite complex, and if you don't plan ahead then you will likely be killed by monsters. Road Not Taken also features "perma-death" meaning that when you die, it's time to start all the way from the beginning.
For what it is, I thought it was quite well made. But it's not really a game for me.
